description A three-quarter length portrait of a curly-haired little girl, her face seen in three quarter view, turned slightly to the left, and wearing a serious expression. She is dressed in a jumper and skirt and holds the ends of a skipping rope in each hand. The drawing is inscribed (verso) 'Hilton's Stepchild, 1957. Hilton remains unidentified, but was probably one of the artist's friends or neighbours in the East End.
