description A half-length profile portrait of a Parisian abbot, facing left, with downcast eyes, which has been drawn using soft pencil for the areas of deep shading and with a bold black outline to the face and figure. Frankfurther made a number of visits to Paris from 1951 onwards, always taking her sketchbook with her. She carried out numerous studies of religious subjects of various faiths in many different cities in both Europe and Israel. This work was executed on her final visit to Paris in 1958 and is indicative of her mature style.
