description A pen-and-ink line drawing of a group of figures at Whitechapel maket including an elderly woman wearing a turban in the foreground, a male, fruit-and-vegetable seller in a cap, conversing with a female customer, to her right; and a man with horse and cart in the background. One of a number of busy genre scenes observing life in Whitechapel, these sketches were sometimes made in situ, and sometimes made later in the studio, based on memory.
