description A head-and-shoulders portrait in three quarter profile, looking right, of a Lyons Corner House waitress of West Indian origin. She is dressed in the traditional cross-over uniform and cap and her serious expression is weary but dignified. This is one of a number of compositions (including drawings, lithographs and paintings) focusing on the over-worked Lyons' waitresses whom the artist worked alongside as a counter-hand and washer-up between 1951 and 1956.
